Wheelchair Rugby League Australia (WRLA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Anna Fitzgerald as its inaugural CEO. Anna will serve as Interim CEO for a six-month term, marking a significant milestone in the organisation’s history.

Anna brings over 15 years of experience in the sports sector and senior management roles across various industries, including financial services and corporate regulation. Her expertise spans strategy development, program and event delivery, stakeholder engagement, and organisational optimisation. An MBA graduate and Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia, Anna is also an alumna of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Executive Talent Program.

Anna will focus on several key priorities in her role, including overseeing program and event delivery, implementing strategic initiatives, managing grant funding, and mapping human resources. She will also lead efforts to develop a Women and Girls Participation Plan, foster stronger relationships with stakeholders, and elevate NRL Wheelchair’s branding and community profile.

Anna’s appointment is pivotal for WRLA as the organisation expands its programs and prepares for the 2026 Rugby League World Cup in Australia. Her collaborative and results-driven approach will ensure that WRLA continues growing and delivers exceptional opportunities for athletes, volunteers, and fans.

Commenting on her appointment, Anna said:
