Wheelchair Rugby League Australia (NRL Wheelchair) is pleased to announce the launch of a new initiative to expand its volunteer program, made possible through the support of the Federal Government’s 2024-25 Strong and Resilient Communities Activity Grant. This funding will enable NRL Wheelchair to enhance its volunteer management capabilities and promote greater inclusivity in sport.

The grant, awarded as part of the Federal Government’s initiative to assist volunteer organisations, focuses on building the capacity of organisations like NRL Wheelchair to uplift volunteer knowledge, skills, and participation.

Through this grant, NRL Wheelchair will expand its reach to include volunteers from priority groups.  It will involve comprehensive training sessions across multiple areas, equipping volunteers with essential skills and boosting confidence in various roles such as coaching, refereeing, game-day assistance, and administration.

Volunteers will be recognised for their contributions with certification and ongoing development pathways, promoting long-term involvement and community connection. This initiative reinforces NRL Wheelchair’s leadership in inclusive sports and its dedication to fostering diversity within its programs.

Further details about the Volunteering program will be announced soon.
