The Queensland Wheelchair Rugby League team will soon board the plane to head south of the border for the upcoming Wheelchair Rugby League State Challenge, to be held at 3 pm Saturday 8 July 2023 at the Whitlam Leisure Centre, Liverpool.

The Wheelchair Rugby League State Challenge is one of the biggest events on the sport’s domestic calendar. The Queensland Maroons were victorious in 2021 (Qld 50 – NSW 30) and 2022 (Qld 49 – NSW 24).

The opposing coaches anticipate a high-level game from their representative teams.

Queensland Coach Jack Brown said: “I’m excited to see how we compose ourselves this year. We have been working hard to create a certain culture in Queensland, and I’m expecting to be blown away by the level of class on display.”

New South Wales Coach Edie George said: “Queensland are a quality side with a world-class coach, but we`ve given them too much respect in the past, and we need to change that. The NSW team have been gelling well and buying into what the coaching staff are trying to introduce. It`ll be a high-quality, high-intensity game from both sides, and we’re really excited to see what we can produce.”
