State Teams Announced for LCA NRL Wheelchair Championships on the Gold Coast

The countdown is on for the highly anticipated LCA NRL Wheelchair Championships, set to take place on the Gold Coast from 31 October to 2 November. This premier event will bring together elite Wheelchair Rugby League athletes from across Australia and New Zealand, showcasing skill, speed, and sportsmanship in a thrilling three-day competition.

The championships will feature seven teams, including a New Zealand squad and an Affiliate States team, each vying for national glory and the coveted Joseph Chidiac Cup. The teams have now been officially announced, and excitement is building as fans prepare to cheer on their representatives.

With a mix of seasoned veterans and rising stars, the 2025 LCA NRL Wheelchair Championships promise to deliver fast-paced action and unforgettable moments. The Gold Coast will be buzzing with energy as teams battle it out for supremacy in one of the most inclusive and exciting formats of Rugby League.

“Congratulations to all participants selected on teams as part of the inaugural LCA NRL Wheelchair Championships. We can’t wait for the action to start in two weeks’ time,” said NRL Wheelchair CEO, Anna Fitzgerald.

Queensland Wheelchair Rugby League Chair, Zac Schumacher encouraged locals to get along and support the event,

“The dual-team representation for Queensland, highlights the depth of talent and provides a thrilling opportunity for fans to support their local heroes on home turf.”

Adding to the fanfare is the 2025 Ashes Test Series with two tests between the Australian Wheelaroos and England taking place on the eve (30 October at 4pm) and following the Championship final (2 November at 3pm).
