Interstate rivalry reignites for 2026 NRL Wheelchair State Challenge

New South Wales and Queensland will once again go head-to-head when the 2026 NRL Wheelchair State Challenge returns to Sydney on Sunday 6 September.

The annual interstate clash will see the best Wheelchair Rugby League players from both States battle for bragging rights in one of the sport’s showcase representative fixtures.

To be played at Bennelong Sports Centre in West Ryde, the match promises a fast-paced display of skill, speed and physicality as two proud Rugby League states renew one of the game’s great rivalries.

The State Challenge also carries added significance this year, with a number of players in contention for selection in the Australian Wheelaroos squad ahead of the 2026 Rugby League World Cup. The fixture will provide Wheelaroos Head Coach Brett Clark with another valuable opportunity to see players perform in a high-quality representative environment before finalising his World Cup squad.
