Wheelchair Rugby League Australia invites Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from suitably qualified and passionate individuals for upcoming roles within the Wheelaroos National Team Program. These key roles are instrumental in supporting the development and success of Australia’s national wheelchair rugby league team, both on and off the field.

This EOI is open to individuals interested in the following positions:

  • Head Coach
  • Assistant Coach
  • Trainers (Level 1 or 2 Sports Trainers)
  • Support and Technical Staff

Role Requirements

All applicants must:

  • Demonstrate experience relevant to the role (see role-specific requirements below).
  • Be aligned with Wheelchair Rugby League Australia’s Code of Conduct, values, and integrity principles.
  • Have or be willing to obtain relevant checks (e.g., Working with Children Check, National Police Check).
  • Be available for team activities, training camps, and tours, as scheduled.
  • Work collaboratively in a team-focused and athlete-centred environment. 

Specific role requirements:

Head Coach

  • Minimum Level 2 Rugby League Coaching Accreditation.
  • Proven leadership in high-performance or representative environments.
  • Experience working with athletes with disability (preferred).

Assistant Coach

  • Minimum Level 1 Coaching Accreditation (Level 2 preferred).
  • Strong communication and athlete development skills.
  • Able to support session planning and tactical implementation.

Trainers

  • Accredited through the NRL Sports Trainer Scheme (Level 1 or Level 2).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience supporting athletes during competition and recovery phases.

Support Staff

  • Relevant professional or technical qualifications (e.g., video analyst, physiotherapist, wellbeing officer).
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
