Diab Karim was introduced to WRL by a lifelong friend who was managing Australia’s Wheelchair Rugby League competition, Joseph Chidiac. “He encouraged me to have a go,’ says Diab.
He got on board as a non-disabled player and in 2011 joined the Ice Cubes WRL team. Diab now plays for the Parramatta Eels WRL team.
When he isn’t involved in WRL he spends his spare time playing Oztag, fishing, watching sports and The Good Doctor, and playing with his kids.
NSW born, Diab follows NRL team Canterbury-Bankstown and his favourite player is Bulldogs winger Josh Ado-Carr.
This year his WRL career has reached new heights with Diab joining the Wheelaroos team that will tour the UK and play in the Rugby League World Cup tournament.
Diab says his mission for the tour is “Bringing the gold home, of course.” But he points out that there is something else very special to look forward to, “Just being with the team on that field is a feeling like no other.”
