Last weekend was a huge step forward both on and off the pitch for our Wheelaroos came together for our third camp as we prepare for the World Cup this November.
This was a successful hit-out overall, even with a number of the guys unable to attend due to illness. Our team continues to improve as a whole and each time we get together I get more and more confident that by the time we arrive in England the team will be ready.
As stated in the past the general playing ability of this group really gives Wheelchair Rugby League Australia some genuine playing depth. This is a credit not only to the players and their efforts but also to the wider coaching staff at both the club and state levels
I could see from the Friday night’s session the team had elevated up another level with the continued focus from all players and staff to ensure we improved together and find what does and doesn’t work.
A huge shoutout to David and the team at Skyring for coming on board as the naming right sponsor of the Skyring Wheelaroos, This is a milestone moment in our sport and topped off the vibe of the weekend.
I’m looking forward to the State of Origin game this coming July, it’s exciting to see the talent of both sides in such an iconic game for wheelchair rugby league.
Our next full camp will be in September.
