South West Sydney
NRL Wheelchair and NSW Wheelchair Rugby League recently held an information session on Sunday 2nd December about the establishment of our newest branch, South West Sydney Wheelchair Rugby League (SWSWRL).
As part of this information session, NSW Wheelchair Rugby League conducted a come n try and talent search session for members of the local community who wished to try the sport. This was conducted in parallel with the NSW Training Program, to give guests an insight of the sport at elite level.
South West Sydney is home to one of the largest participation rates of wheelchair rugby league players in NSW, with over half a dozen being selected to represent NSW or Australia in previous years. This is due to the nature of the sport, allowing people with or without disabilities and injuries, male and female, to compete together at all levels, making in a truly inclusive sport.
We are inviting local businesses, rugby league clubs and individuals to get involved with this new community group. We are looking for potential sponsors, volunteers and players to assist with developing this much needed program to the South West Sydney region.
