Wheelchair Rugby League is on the up in the Townsville area, with Australian Head Coach Brett Clark in attendance for a training session run this past Sunday afternoon.
This session was held at Townsville Stadium which will be the location to showcase the game against North Queensland WRL and England WRL this coming October.
"It's great to see Wheelchair Rugby League becoming a fixture in the Townsville community, and the talent in the area is fantastic." said Coach Clark.
In the 2017 Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup held in France, three Townsville locals represent Australia. With Davin Bretherton and Pete Arbuckle on the playing roster and Darren McKenna as part of the coaching staff.
Coach Clark mentioned "With games on home soil this October and the 2021 World Cup in England, this is a great time for anyone wanting to give Wheelchair Rugby League a go."
For anyone wanting to be part of Wheelchair Rugby League or get involved, there will be training sessions held each Monday and Wednesday afternoon from 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Mates4Mates Centre. 40 Anne Street, Aitkenvale.
