Shaun Harre is a South Australian who has wholeheartedly converted to the footy codes of NRL and Wheelchair Rugby League. Not only that, but he has also risen to representative level as a non-disabled wheelchair athlete since joining the Beachmere Pelicans WRL team during 2015.

The game of WRL was a game changer for him due to its inclusivity. Shaun says that he was drawn to WRL, “Because it’s an inclusive sport and I could play alongside my brother-in-law, who has a disability”.

Nicknamed ‘Bizzle’, the Wheelaroos player spends his spare time at the Speedway and loves films depicting the Marvel Universe. Sydney’s St George Dragons are his favourite NRL team but he also admires Queensland’s hero Jonathon Thurston.

He enjoys following professional boxing and when it comes to meeting a famous person his pick is WBC champion Tyson Fury.

Shaun’s next challenge will be “versing different international teams on the world stage”, when Australia’s Wheelchair Rugby League team takes part in the World Cup.
