Our Queensland Wheelchair Rugby League Interim Management Committee has been successful in securing funding from the Gambling Benefit Fund for the inaugural Queensland State Cup. The cup will involve a state championship weekend tournament in Rockhampton, involving teams from each of the three Queensland Rugby League regions, held in May 2021.
The Gambling Benefit Fund allocates grants to not-for-profit community groups, to enhance their capacity to provide services, leisure activities and opportunities for Queensland communities.
The success in securing this funding will help towards transport costs, event costs, equipment such as posts, footballs, goal post pads and outfitting the three competing QLD teams in jerseys, travelling polo shirts and training apparel.
The tournament will assist the recently appointed Qld Maroons Head Coach Jack Brown and his assistant JJ Atuahiva select the 2021 Qld Maroons for the annual State of Origin fixture against the NSW Blues. Bringing together the Queensland community to celebrate the inclusiveness of Wheelchair Rugby League and promote our fast growing support throughout the Central Queensland region and more widely, Queensland.
