2019 NSW Wheelchair Rugby League Competition

Competition Information

The season is set to commence on the 3rd February 2019, following our inaugural NSWWRL Season Launch Dinner (TBA).

The competition will comprise of a two tiered competition:

 

NSWWRL Cup (Tier One)

The NSWWRL Cup is the top level open competition for wheelchair rugby league in NSW. It will comprise of the top wheelchair rugby league players and experienced wheelchair sports participants in the state. Players will be divided into teams based on skill level and experience, making this one of the toughest wheelchair sports competitions to win in Australia.

For those selected to play in the NSWWRL Cup, this competition will played most Sundays at the Menai Indoor Sports Centre, Menai. Games will also be played at Western Sydney, Sydney Northern Beaches and Newcastle, in preparation for the competitions expansion in the near future.

Tier one games will be played under full international laws, in preparation for the upcoming 2019 wheelchair rugby league representative season.

NSWWRL Fleet Wheelchair Hire

Due to the level of the competition, and ongoing maintenance and repair costs, there will be an added weekly hire costs for use of our fleet wheelchairs.

NSWWRL Plate (Tier Two)

 

The NSWWRL Plate is an open family orientated, social competition for beginners, developing and junior players. Games will be played under relaxed and modified rules, with matches being played under 50 minutes. This is a great grassroots competition for any individual or families wishing to get involved in sport.

 

The large majority of games will be played on Sunday afternoons at Menai Indoor Sports Centre, Menai. Round Two will be played at YMCA Hawkesbury Stadium, Windsor.

All equipment is provided for free for players participating in the NSWWRL Plate, including access to our NSWWRL Wheelchairs.

Registration Information

The 2019 NSWWRL season is set to commence from the 3rd February 2019, following our inaugural NSWWRL Season Launch Dinner on 29th January at the new NSW Rugby League Centre of Excellence.

 

The competition is an open invitational event for individuals throughout NSW, with players being divided in a two tiered competition based on wheelchair sports experience and skill level.

 

Players are not required to have participated in the sport before, with the event open to people of all ages, skill level and ability.

 

As with all of our wheelchair rugby league events, this is fully inclusive and open to people with or without disabilities or injuries.


Full draw, competition, season launch and team/tier selection details will be available in the lead up the season launch.

Full cost for senior players (17 years and over) is $150.

This includes:

- 2019 NRL Wheelchair Yearly Membership ($20)

- 2019 NSWWRL Competition Participation (NSWWRL Cup and NSWWRL Plate)

- x1 Ticket for the 2019 NSWWRL Launch Dinner

 

- x1 Team Jersey

Full cost for junior players (16 years and under) is $130.

This includes:

- 2019 NRL Wheelchair Yearly Membership ($20)

- 2019 NSWWRL Competition Participation (NSWWRL Cup and NSWWRL Plate)

- x1 Ticket for the 2019 NSWWRL Launch Dinner

 

- x1 Team Jersey

Junior players MAY apply for the 2019 NSW Active Kids Voucher (valued at $100). This will be available from 1st January 2019 through Service NSW.

Junior participants may register before this time, paying the remaining $30 as a deposit (NRL Wheelchair Yearly Membership and 2019 NSWWRL Comp Balance).
